Hi! My name is Sara and I am a 16 year old sophomore high school student. I am a volleyball player- now having played for around 5 years- and I love all sports, whether that be by attempting to play or watching them!
How EAG Foundation was born
Sports are, I believe, one of the most special ways to grow as a person and truly develop. They not only provide a goal to work hard towards every day, but introduce the value of working on a team, determination, and strength during hardship.
As an athlete, I experienced all of these results from playing volleyball. During my time in Colombia, while working towards an athletic goal, I encountered a very talented group of volleyball players. But what set these athletes apart was not only their incredible skill but the fact that they were determined to play and improve regardless of the state of their athletic gear. During my break, as I observed them closer, I noticed the very run-down volleyball shoes and torn knee pads leading me to ask, “how much better would they be if they had the adequate equipment?”- considering they already possessed the passion, determination, and talent. Then I realized that talent is universal, but opportunity is not. That very moment awakened my desire to begin helping athletes, leading to the EAG Foundation to be born.
Why GOALS Haiti?
Ever since, I have been dedicated to supporting athletic institutions that need more aid and organizations that help young athletes. Through research, I found GOALS Haiti and was in awe of all the work they have done to help young athletes. It was so great to see an organization that not only prioritizes children’s athletics but also greatly values education and youth leadership. Being a part of this collaboration means being able to provide young athletes with even more soccer equipment and empowering the next generation of Haitian athletes.
